Arthur Frommer says book your airfare now

Arthur Frommer is the godfather of travel, so when he speaks we should listen, right? Well, here's what he's saying these days, listen up:

  1. Last minute low fares are h-i-s-t-0-r-y
  2. If you think airfares are high now, you haven't seen anything yet. When the airlines actually remove the capacity cuts they've announced there will be fewer seats which means airfares will only go even higher
  3. This is especially true for Hawaii. If you want to go there, book it now
  4. Flying Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturday afternoons are your best bet
  5. If you want a good fare, be flexible!!
I agree with most of what he says - and actually most of what he says comes from an interview with Hugh Crean, CEO of Farecast.com. But I do think that come fall when the peak summer travel season is over and demand falls, you will see some discounting on fares...

But if you live in a small city with limited airline service? Forget it. You are going to be paying for some time...
