Okay...WTF? This video is nutty! At first I thought it was a joke, but then I saw that the advice was mostly sound - it was just presented in a very odd way.
Except for a few things. One, the video says airlines adjust their pricing on Weds from 12a - 1a? Uh, no they don't. I worked in airline pricing and they can adjust their fares at least 4 times a day (and it's probably more now, I'm old and it's been awhile). Point being, fares are adjusted all the time. Fare sales can be loaded midweek so airlines can get the late week press, but then again, it's not absolute and if your preferred airline didn't start the sale, you probably want to wait until they match the sale fares. Meaning, if you are up Wednesday midnight looking for a unique airfare deal, you are wasting your time. Get your beauty sleep.
Two, call the airline's call center. I agree with the point - that being to find the lowest fare regardless of availability - but by all means don't book it in an airline's call center! If you do, it will cost you $25 or so. Speaking of which, I do find it funny that you can talk to an airline agent as long as you want, but if you don't actually book anything you cost the airline time/money but don't give them any revenue to offset it. Maybe airlines should have 1-900 lines instead of 1-800 lines. (Oh, man, that's probably actually coming down the pike! And if it does, I called it!) But back to my point, this video must be dated as most websites allow "flexible search" where you can view low fares over several days - and you should definitely do that.
Three, they are missing my favorite starting point, Kayak.com. I typically start my search at Kayak.com using their flexible day search and then I'll pull in Southwest if I see them as an option. I usually don't as I freaking hate Midway Airport - sorry Midway Airport, it's me not you. I go to Kayak and then I usually jump to the supplier's site that I'm interested in...but that's just me.
Otherwise, the other advice was rather sound, but it was still pretty damn weird.
