While perusing the New York Times today, I read a both interesting and infuriating article about how some of New York's cake eaters have recently been forced to cut back their spending. This quote in particular caught my eye:
Oh, the humanity! No one should ever be expected to move from a Gulfstream to a Beech or (gasp!) a Learjet.Justin Sullivan, managing director of Regent Jet, which leases private airplanes, said most clients in real estate and on Wall Street are switching to chartered jets over private jets, and cutting their flight budgets by about 25 percent. One New York real estate developer cut his budget to less than $250,000 a year from $1.5 million a year.
“A year ago, he would have only flown Gulfstreams,” Mr. Sullivan said. “Now it’s moving to the point where he’s flying Beech jets and Learjets.”
Perhaps some of these toffs need to fly commercial again. Why would you want to avoid the experience of getting felt up by the TSA and sitting next to the fat guy that hogs the arm rest if you could afford otherwise? I don't get it!
This recession thing has now officially gone on too long.
