Priceline guarantees sunshine on your vacation

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Leading online travel agency Priceline.com, launched a rather unique promotion, saying they will refund your money if your vacation gets rained out. Yes, all of your money. It's a limited-time promotion they've called Sunshine Guaranteed.

If you book a Priceline vacation package to qualifying destinations between now and July 17 and travel between July 1 and September 7, you will be eligible for a refund if your vacation is rained out. There is no additional charge. No, London is not a qualifying destination...but Priceline does list about 100 destinations in the USA, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean.

As you can imagine there is some fine print involved:
Qualifying vacation packages must be 3-8 days in length. Travel must commence at least 12 days after a package is purchased. If it rains more than 0.50 inches per day on half or more of the days of a Sunshine Guaranteed vacation (including travel days), priceline.com will provide a refund for 100% of the cost of airfare, hotel, rental car and attractions and services components of the Sunshine Guaranteed vacation package.
The 12 days between booking and travel is the restriction that is most curious. I wonder if Priceline - in partnership with weatherbill.com - actually forecasts long term weather trends and will adjust eligible destinations, say, if a hurricane is headed towards them or something. Yes, I'm suspecting the eligible destination list is dynamic.

But it's definitely a cute gimmick to get you to book your vacation at Priceline and if you fear rain, you may just want to check it out. I'd advise also researching that Priceline has the best price - and they oftentimes do. If they meet price and give you this extra perk, then I'd certainly go for it!
