Top 10 weird things to do around globe

There is nothing I like more than a top 10 list. Here's one sourced from the travel recommendation and community site, IgoUgo.com, that lists theor Top 10 "weird activities" from around the world.

I found some not only weird but flat out disgusting (yes, that's you #4) If you are up for seeing that crazy people are found on all corners of the globe, consider visiting some of these events:

1. The Great Whipped Cream Battle - Olomouc, Czech Republic

This sounds dirty! In this epic event volunteers are divided into teams and then attack each other with cream. It can't end well. We did this once in college cafeteria once and were nearly suspended. Obviously I was in the wrong country at the time.

2. The Modern Toilet Restaurant - Taipei, Taiwan

Go here to find good cheap eats at this eatery where you sit at a bathtub (which acts at your table so I assume it has a top on it) on a toilet seat and your food is delivered in a replica toilet bowl - cleaned, I'm assured.

Who cares how the food tastes, do this one for the photo op alone! If you click through the link above, check out the poop-looking chocolate mouse. Klassy...

3. Eeyore's Birthday - Austin, Texas

Did you know that Eeyore's birthday has been celebrated for over 40 years in Austin Texas? Admission is free and money raised from the sale of food, drinks, face-painting, etc. is donated to local non-profits. Sweet.

4. Sourtoe Cocktail Club - Dawson City, Yukon, Canada

Before you read further, know that this one made my stomach churn. The only way to gain entry into the Downtown Hotel's Sourtoe Cocktail Club by sipping a drink containing one of the hotel's preserved human toes (yes - real human toes! ). Isn't that kind of thing illegal? Oh, and it gets worse. It has to be a big sip as the rules say your lips must touch the pickled toe.

For the record - and yes I know I'm a sissy (and I'm proud to be one), there is no way in hell I could do this. No way.

Now please excuse me while I go hurl.

5. Cabbages and Condoms Restaurant - Bangkok, Thailand

Now, this is handy this place is a restaurant, bar, Internet cafe, massage shop, and gift shop all rolled into one. All diners get a condom with their coffee. Supposedly it's to foster responsibility, but I just say it's a bit weird.

6. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Races - London, England

Shrove Tuesday - also known as Fat Tuesday - is characterized in London by a wild and crazy pancake race. It's a centuries old tradition, and all you need is a team and a crazy costume, and you have a shot at stardom.

I honestly don't know what all this "pancake tuesday" business is all about, but when I see the two words together I quote the wise, yet stupid Karl Pilkington on this one:

"I wouldn't put a date on Pancake Tuesday. Just have 'em when you want."
Don't know who Karl Pilkington is? Well you should definitely look him up.

7. Shot Cafe - Riga, Latvia

Supposedly it's the toilets in this joint that are the main attraction. Says a visitor:
"Shot Cafe has the best toilet EVER. It seems a big boast to make, but the loo here has to be seen to be believed. Mood lighting turned the bathroom from a deep blood-red to a vibrant green to a shadowy blue to a piercing white. The toilet seat was clear perspex inset with gilded barbed wire and razor blades. We fell in love with that toilet."
Okay....admit it, it's not every day you read the words "we fell in love with that toilet."

8. Hakone Kowakien Yunessun Wine Spa - Hakone, Japan

Now this one I could get into. Take a dip in a red wine pool in the shadow of Mt. Fuji. Sounds awesome, I'm there...

Do click through the link and see the coffee, green tea and sake spas. Now I'm definitely there!

9. Cafe Gratitude - San Francisco, California
"This is a very, very weird place. I just can't get beyond the names of the food. They all have fake "affirmations" so when you get something like their large salad you have to say, "I'd like the I AM ABUNDANT." It might be slow because they have to ask you between courses things like, "And what are YOU grateful for today?" You HAVE to answer, depending on the rigidity of the server, before you can get your food."
Sorry, but I have a feeling I'd punch someone there and spend the rest of my stay in the SFO city jail. Not good...

10. Cockroach Races - Brisbane, Australia

Each Australia Day (January 26), Brisbane's Story Bridge Hotel encourages visitors to "BYO Roach" for its creepy-crawly cockroach races. Nice...

That's a lot of weirdness for one day, and I don't know about you, but I couldn't get past that toe one. Oh-my-freaking-God!!!
