Congratulations to Spain's Carlos Sastre who won this year's Tour de France on Sunday. He finished the 23-day 3,500 kilometer (that's 2,175 miles to you and me) race in 87 hours, 52 minutes and 52 seconds. That's freaking incredible!!
While I'll never be fit enough to even complete a single stage of the Tour, the fine folks at the UK's Guardian put together their list of 10 top European bike rides. They are:
1. Yorkshire Dales, EnglandDo click through the link below and read a review of each ride and find some useful links to tour companies that will guide you on each trip. I personally don't know how I could bike through gorgeous France without partaking in the fine wines - which I predict would result in a nasty accident...
2. South Downs, England
3. Ireland
4. Belgium
5. French Alps
6. French Pyrenees
7. Provence, France
8. Italian Dolomites
9. Picos de Europa, Spain
10. Peloponnese, Greece
But then again, French wines are the best incentive to get you through the miles on each day's trek, right?
